WHAT WE'RE ABOUT
Our mission is to educate students on environmental and fishing issues and provide the opportunity to compete in Bass Tournaments. All of our Student anglers must keep a 2.0 or higher grade point average to compete in tournaments.
MEMBERSHIP
In addition to high school students, we are looking to recruit students in Jr. High as well ranging from 13 to 18 years of age. All of our student anglers must keep a 2.0 or higher grade point average to compete and we are always looking for projects and events for the students to earn community service hours to comply with the scholarship programs.
CLUB ACCOMPLISHMENTS
2020-2021 Season: The season was marred by Covid; attended two tournaments.
2019-2020 Season: Competed in 17 tournaments throughout the State of Florida. One team qualified to fish the State Championship tournament; they took 5th Place out of 126 teams.
2018-2019 Season: Teams competed in 17 tournaments throughout the State and qualified to fish the State championship.
2017-2018 Season: Competed in 17 tournaments throughout the State of Florida. One team qualified for both the State Championship where they took second place, with this finish and earned a place on the Florida High School Team to compete at the High School National Championship on Kentucky Lake, in Paris, Tennessee, where they finished 49th out of 380 teams.
WHO WE ARE
We are the Volusia High Schools Fishing Club. Our club is comprised of high school students from both public and private schools on the east and west side of Volusia County. These young adults have joined this club to further their knowledge of the environment, advance their fishing skills, and participate in tournaments.
WHY WE DO IT
Fishing has become a collegiate sport and is getting bigger in colleges throughout the country. By fishing all the scheduled tournaments, students get the opportunity to gain enough points to not only fish the State Championship but a chance to fish the B.A.S.S. Nation High School National Championship; there they will be competing against the best high schoolers in the Country. By fishing our State Tournaments and qualifying for the State and National Championships, these young men and women may be seen and followed by colleges that have fishing teams thereby giving them a chance at college scholarships.
